Project update

CDOT Project Team to be in Community

I-70 East EIS Team Member ID Card - project team members will have project identification cards like the one shown here As part of the I-70 East project, members of the project team will be in the community performing a variety of field survey functions. They will be easily recognizable by the company identification on their vehicles and the I-70 East project identification tags they will be wearing. The surveyors will be using various types of surveying equipment to identify the location and physical characteristics of the bridge structures, utilities, signs, and other infrastructure improvements. All of this work can be accomplished within public right-of-way and will not require entry to private property.

CDOT is NOT Considering
Rerouting I-70!

Recently, there have been many questions on whether or not CDOT is evaluating an alternative that would realign I-70 around Denver using Interstates 270 and 76. This alternative was eliminated from consideration early in the project process, as documented in the Draft EIS.

Additional reasons for not considering this option a reasonable alternative for I-70 East will be included in the next environmental document, expected to be available in late summer

2013. The alternatives being evaluated by CDOT for improvements to I-70 can be found on the Alternatives page.

Do you want to see the detailed designs of the alternatives from Brighton Boulevard to Colorado Boulevard?

They are now available online! These are the maps that are discussed in the monthly community coordination meetings. Visit the Alternatives page to view the DRAFT design maps of the alternatives being considered in the next environmental document being prepared for the EIS.

CDOT is Meeting with the Public to Discuss Right-of-Way

CDOT will be meeting with residential and commercial property owners in the Elyria and Swansea neighborhoods to explain the agency’s process for purchasing properties that are potentially impacted by proposed improvements to the I-70 East project. The objective is for the public to understand how the acquisition and relocation process will protect their rights, as well as to warn them to be cautious of speculators who may try to mislead property owners with inaccurate information about CDOT’s intentions.

Looking for information about the property purchase and relocation process?

See the Purchase & Relocation (ROW) page.

Tell CDOT
what you think

The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are close to making decisions on the I-70 East project. See what we have recommended as the Preferred Alternative to improve I-70 between I-25 and Tower Road. Our goals are to resolve congestion, improve safety, and make it easier to get on and off the highway. The recommended Preferred Alternative is the result of many conversations with the community and public input. We are close to making a decision.

We want to hear your opinion.

It makes a difference.

What is the recommended Preferred Alternative?
